Twas a Smurf culling indeed

Central Coast Mariners 7 (Rogic 16', 62', Ryall 29' og, McBreen 39' pen, 65', 67' McGlinchey 55')
Sydney FC 2 (Yau 8', Abbas 54')
Crowd: 15,686 @ Bluetongue Stadium

I tipped Mariners by three. Sydney are and have been rubbish, I reckoned we would belt them, but not to that extent! ...yes, didn't get off to an ideal start as a stupid error with the back line resulted in a goal for Yau...he took control of the ball and chipped it in and I don't think I was alone in thinking , oh shit, another game of defence, defence, lucky goal....BUT....I don't know if I could have handled any more goals! Can you O.D on goals?...hell  I'm still chuckling while I'm typing this.

and as much as I bag him , I gotta give props to Macca on his hat trick,  he put in an solid effort in the game tonight!..Arnie said he wound Dan back at training to keep him sharp for games, seems to work beautifully, hard to believe his the first Mariners player to score a hat trick?

I knew that the Stade de Mariner would be humming due to the fact that Allesandro Del Pierro was hopping on the train to Gosford, lets be realisitic, he was the reason we got 15k+ to the game...hopefully, the boys impressed the casual fans and they come back for the Roar game and beyond.

it was a magic night to be a Mariner fan. As I said, Sydney are woeful, but, lets not take anything away from us, Arnie said last week after the Hearts game, that we would click soon and he was right, we are a hell of a side, when we knuckle down and taste the opponents blood... Arnie, as proven in the past two years, is a brilliant manager.

Congrats to all the team. some brilliant football..I dare say, some of the best the Hyundai A-League has seen, reminded me of the ACL game last year against Taijin, where the boys were lining up to score. And other than that game, this was, most certainly,  our most dominant ever home performance.

Talk about great timing, with ADP coming to the Fortress, this was the game we needed to send a message, sadly, the Iti had a buggered hammy...which I'm sure annoyed more than a few of the 'casual" fans, a cynic would say that ADP was never gonna play at all, and they just promoted him to draw some extra revenue into Bluetongue..but I'm not a cynic...sort of....

Wee Mac showed his class all night , and his contibution to the points was fantastic, he turned two smurf defenders inside out, on the right side,  before driving the ball into the Sydney FC goal to score, for what I believe, to be the goal of the game....and Mickeys ripper was the beginning of a ten minute smurf destroying frenzy.

TO THE INDIVIDUAL THOUGHTS:

Ryan – could do nothing about their goals; he has the quickest release to set up the break but for once his footwork was caught out as he had a kick charged down

Bojic – on any other day he would have won the MoM; he was a machine

Rose – at last, width on the left; great cross for McBreen third goal

Sainsbury – a mixed bag, some good work, a silly yellow, a couple of poor passes – but we are
not missing Wilko.

Zwaanswijk – Smurfs really didnt cause him much greif

Monty and Hutch – inseparable in the middle of the park as they provided all the possession for the geniuses in front of them

Rogic – could reduce Bluetongue to a no-seat stadium as has every spectator on their feet with his skills, still moves a bit slow at times, but his getting better

McGlinchey – redefines the term ‘ twisted them into a knot’ as his trickery completely discombobulated the smurfs

quick side bar:..Delovski is simply the best ref in the game, last night he was brilliant, and I dont like ref's, so he must of been good...BACK TO THE BOYS....

Sterjovski – lots of little classy intelligent touches; blended superbly into the team performance.
there is an understated quality to much of his work.

McBreen – I doubt he has ever played a better match in his life. Rogic and McGlinchey could not have given their brilliant performance's without him.

Ibini - lively and confident, perhaps a bit too eager but he looks arrogant on the ball which I like. Not very far from his best

and I must give a special mention to Seb Ryall for pretending to be with a winning team and getting a goal

It has been 1533 days since Sydney FC have won in Gosford and that drought will have to wait a little longer to be broken.

Great effort, we're back on the top of the ladder where we belong!

At first, we were losing,
But then, we were cruising,
We scored on the left,
We scored on the right,
Walking in a Mariners Wonderland
