Adam Kwasnik. Kwasi, Kwasidinho..my missus FAVOURITE EVER Mariner...tell you what, were running out of originals aint we?....
Mariners attacker Adam Kwasnik enjoys a special place in the hearts of lot of fans of the yellow and blue. Capable of a world-class goal and some sublime passes, Kwasnik is a hard working striker. Kwasnik joined the Mariners in Hyundai A-League season one, his done a lot whislt at the Mariners, scored goals, played in the ACL...BEAT THE SCUMMERS..
Kwasnik was scorer of the 200th goal in the Hyundai A-League on 20 January 2006. He is showed his potential by scoring 7 goals and two assists in the 06/07 season from 19 starts.
'Kwas', as he is known to team mates and fans alike, is the Mariners all-time leading goalscorers list with 30 goals.
He also has his own superstition of training with one sock around his ankle and the other pulled up to his knee.
Lawrie McKinna has coached many teams in Australia, and Kwas has been in every one of those teams, however he thouight he'd have a crack at another team and made the decision to move the Wellington Phoenix for the 2008-2009 season....did I mention he helped beat the Scummers at that famous game that ended with Dane Drive going tits up birko ?
After a disappointing season at the Phoenix, Kwasnik signed on 9 February 2009 with his former club Central Coast Mariners for the upcoming 2009 AFC Champions League and also for the 2009/2010 A-League season.
Kwasnik was loaned out to Chinese Super League club and Mariners sister club Chengdu Blades during the 2010-11 off-season. He debuted in the season opener against Shandong Luneng and equalized to make it 3-3. The game would finish 3-3.
In a bit of a bummer, Kwas spent much of season eight on the sidelines due to injury and after playing a few games for Pat Zwaanoies yoof squad he has been ruled out for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League season with a knee injury sustained fairly recently...
I suspect that this will be the last we see of Kwas in a Mariners shirt...pity, coulda done with the bloke , the strikers in the big boys at the moment couldnt shoot themselves in the foot
Kwasnik has played 148 A-League matches with Central Coast and Wellington Phoenix, scoring 36 goals...AND...he got himself a Grand Final medal...
