It was a match without malice that
gave us a player sent off; a game that gave us a new villain, in the hopeless
referee, Shaun Evans.
The game had everything. Sainsbury
gets a HAL goal. Seip comes on and tried to, apparently, throw it all away..
Injuries to Tesco and Anderson. Burns got walked for wearing the wrong shirt
and McGlinchey scores a beautiful winner right at the death….Man, I love
football.
Wee micky scored the winner, with 18 seconds to go, for the Central
Coast Mariners in a 2-1 triumph over 10-man Perth Glory in a dramatic match at Fortress
Mariner… mickys stoppage time screamer gave the Mariners' title defence a much
needed lift after a drama-packed conclusion to their 2-1 win
NOW to our captain, Hutch is a good
leader and has been a brilliant servant for the club but, the armband has cut
the blood off to his brain and he needs to lead from the bench from now on…If
we could have kept Bozanic to play in his spot we would currently be in the top
3.
Glory appeared to have secured a point through a 84th minute penalty
to Steve McGarry in his 100th appearance for Perth….But in a frantic
five-minute stoppage time period, Perth had skipper Jacob Burns sent off for a
second yellow card offence.
With just seconds remaining, Scottish kiwi, McGlinchey, in his second
last game for the Mariners before starting a loan spell in Japan, fired home
from close range after Daniel McBreen had hit the post.
The victory lifted Central Coast two spots to fourth and left Perth
in eighth.
It was an eventful game for the Mariners' central defenders, with Zac
Anderson and Trent Sainsbury combining for the latter's first A-League goal in
the 12th minute, before both were forced off with injury in the second
half…..substitute centre back Marcel Seip was booked for coming onto the field
before the officials were officially notified and then gave away the penalty
with a foul on Chris Harold.
Prior to stoppage time, the Mariners had a great chance to win the
game in the 90th minute, but out of sorts striker Daniel McBreen fired wide.
The Mariners had 64 per cent of possession in the first half and were
good value for their 1-0 lead at the break….Sainsbury, whose only previous goal
for the Mariners was in an Asian Champions League game, opened his A-League
account in his 56th domestic appearance.
He fired home following a flick from central defensive colleague Zac
Anderson, after Glory only partially cleared a 12th minute corner
Glory made the occasional incursion into the Mariners' penalty area,
with Brazilian Sidnei firing wide in the 15th minute and a couple of other
dangerous crosses not being rewarded…..Glory came into the game more in the
second half and the Mariners struggled to find a telling final ball.
The Mariners created several other chances - Josh Rose and McBreen
shot straight at Glory goalkeeper Danny Vukovic, while an unmarked McBreen
stabbed the ball wide on another occasion.
Macca had one golden moment and
lifted the boredom, for by now,to be fair, this game was tedious beyond belief,
Macca beat Vukovic but the goal was correctly disallowed for offside.
Macca it seems has gone from golden
boot to rubber boot, shortly after his disallowed shot, he missed yet another
sitter with another air swing
Zac went down with cramp and the
Mariners brought on Flores, by default a Guus Hiddink type substitution. Or
rather, they wanted to, but had to wait two minutes as the football officials
jobsworthed their way through his substitution application papers. But what a
difference he made!
The Mariners, affected by injuries
and self-inflicted wounds appeared to have thrown the game and the referee
wasn’t helping, refusing a blatant penalty offence by Cernak, who barreled into
the back of McGlinchey, flattening the little genius in the penalty area.
The ref struck again when the human maggot Jacob Burns somehow got himself a cut eye from brushing against Mile shirt, he handed him a yellow card for wearing the wrong shirt ( or some crap) then got a second yellow
for telling the the ref to f**k off, and was sent off, ..BUT…,
Burns apparently wiped said blood on Matty Simon, that’s an assault charge in
the real world…so his still a maggot in my eyes...lets hope he gets a decent vacation and McGarry gets the captains job permanently.
Mom's
3pts Weemac
2pts Monty
1pt. Tesco
Reddy 7. Easy night. Good distribution. Nice change for him or Pasfield not to be our best player.
Storm 7. Return to good form. Much better movement off the ball.
Rose 8. Good barnstorming game. Really should have finished when he hit the post.
Ando 7.5. Best game so far. Well played Chesty.
Tesco 8. Looked like the captain. Good game and decent finish.
Weemac 8. Our best player but still overdoes it occasionally.
Hutcho 6. Better than last week. Switched on brilliantly in last 10 minutes but why not play like that all game. Passing was sloppy.
Monty 8. Great game, much sharper than last week.
Sterj 6. Not good but not bad.
Duke 7. Worked his arse off and showed heaps of courage and self belief. First touch is still ropey.
Macca 6. The bustle was back and he set up 1st goal but what has he done with his golden boots?
SO...there you go...got the Heart on Sunday, might be intresting now that the schip has docked
