And the Hutcho free game commenced, played and was finished and If ever a team can be said to have been thrashed by 1-0, it was Sydney FC today; the boys, for the most part, absolutely outplayed the Smurfs and apart from their crap shooting, the match could have been over by half-time...and, when I say crap shooting, it was truly, one of the greatest display of piss poor shooting by the Mariners I've ever seen....
The reffing was up to its usual sub par self...HELL, we even changed refs and it didnt improve....and the lineys, well, I can only think they have received an edict that says "if its in line with you its offside"...I'd have to say that almost every single offside last night was a wrong call
Speaking of Hutcho....How bloody good was Monty? Dukes and Berni, when they came on looked very up for it.....Fitz was a bit annoying to watch, a bit weird cause his usually up for it...and then there was East Gosford's Rams Sportsman of the Year (Every Year)...what the hell was he thinking, after missing that shot when he tried that stupid friggin tackle that could of ended real bad...grow the f**k up Matt Simon..that's low grade park ball shit.
The most stand out performance in the game for all the wrong reasons was Sydney Saviour, Alesandro del Piero. He seems, and its only my thought, wasteful and either unwilling or unable to put his body on the line. Seems very frustrated, either at the rest of the team, himself or the coaching..OR ...all of it.
Yes, this game was, indeed, much better than some of our recent efforts, even Macca looked slightly more refreshed than in recent times....Rosey looked mildly sharper, and A.C while, at times looked a smidge bamboozled, was pretty damn good...all he needs is time
MIND YOU...after seeing the Hearts and Phoenix scorelines, it could be argued that any of the other teams in the comp would have beaten last night's Sydney by more than 1-0.
Losing Hutcho was a massive bonus for us.
We are still low on confidence but with decent team set up an a central middy willing to go forward we dominated a shit Sydney team and should have won 3.0.
The ref was a plum as per usual HAL standards.
Reddy 6. Terrible error but thankfully saved by the linesman. A couple of decent saves after that.
Roux 7. Good game.
Rose 5. Great go forward but headless chook at times.
Ando 7. Very composed.
Tesco 7. Quality.
Monty 8. Should be the captain from now on. Clearly a better option than Hutch in every regard.
Caceras 6.5. Starting to belong at this level.
Fitz 6.5. 9 for his industry but 4 for his composure.
Macca 6. Not as gash as last week but very very lucky to be there.
Sterj 6. Invisible man until he scored.
Simon 7. Commendable effort. A real target man with huge work rate. I commend you mate and shake my head at the knockers.
Subs...Bernie 7.5. Looked a level above when he came on.
Scummers are coming for a visit next week...and while I've seen a very low numbered "Squadrunts" on friday night games on SBS...you can bet they suddenly gonna find a few dozen extra bogans to catch the train....batten down the hatches
