Well, it appears thet the Brisbane bogey team thingy is still alive and well...with the help of a bloke that dont deserve paying I might add...
Lots of people praising John Aloisi and yes he done good, BUT the Roar didnt play like Johns old team Westpac United at all, so I reckon Aloisi found some of Anges old tactics notebooks ...ya think?...he figured worked out that if you double up on our wingers then we struggled to make headway through the middle...pretty sharp Johnny LotsaBucks
Now to the Mariners and comparing and contrasting the first towo game with a look to the season in general, well, either we'll just not be good enough, but go out in style, or we'll be back to surprising everyone and over performing ... I reckon the signs point to a stack of the the latter, we will be either good enough or not BUT either way it'll be fun to watch
Now to the boys in general :
The Gaffer can work Skype....Monty once again had Williams to put up with and he didnt say fark once (maybe)
Mickey Neil actually looked like he was struggling figure out what was going on for the last 10 or so minutes, ball watching, stiff legs, etc etc... maybe that's a fitness issue, more than a question on his ability ....
Not that our fitness is bad - at ALL - just that they might not all be up to playing the pace that we're hoping for the season
Fittzy, well, once again, a lot of effort for little gain and too many turn overs....and A.C just didnt put in enough again, this one week on, one week off isnt good enough anymore
The backs are still much too loose...might a youth question, maybe a couple of weeks with Eddie and Rosey beefing up the back line or giving Harry and Jake some support might pay off
And then there was Heff, after waiting for weeks to get his work visa sorted (which is weird, cause he was playing in Victoria) well, looked like he was lumbering a bit...get up to speed young man or your gonna get left behind.
Speaking of Jake (was I) McGing perfectly picked the run of Fab into the penalty area and the attacker did exactly what was required, pulling a cutback from the byline for Josh Bingham to bang home our only goal
NOW to that bloody referee, jesus wept, gainful employemnt hasnt improved him none has he...Williams really took the edge off a very good game . 6 fouls on Austin by Hinget and nothing and Cacere's legs will be the color of his shorts by Wednesday .....
Mind you he was quick to stick his hand in his pocket when Broich took the occasional attempt at simulating being hurt.. Dont get me wrong, I like Broich but geez, his got a firm grasp on playing to the idiocy to the officials , and while there is nothing wrong with that, it still SHITS me, 16 fouls to 15 , 0 yellow cards to 4 , says it all........oh yeah it seems Stebre is the only ref who knows the penalty rule
I watched the Glory-Sheepshaggers match afterwards, and our losing effort was way better either of those games
Better side won and our sloppy defence cost us the game....But we had a dig and didn't disgrace our selfs.
Reddy 8. Great as usual.
Roux 7. Best of a shitful back 4.
Mcging 6. Still learning.
Ascroft 6. One minute woeful and the next excellent. Good potential but like his other team mates at times dreadful defensively.
Neil 4. Good when on the ball but possible the worst fullback we have ever had defensively. Amazingly clueless. Hopefully Rose is fit next week.
Monty 7.5. Solid.
Fitz 5.5. Pretty poor.
Caceras 6. Needs to man up. Has the skills but needs to lead from the front.
Fab 6. Defensively poor. Took many wrong options but did get the assist.
Austin 6.5. Tried hard.
Paddy 6. Should have equalised. Not bad but not good.
So...there you have it, no need to panic just yet
