SO, there we go, two losses in a row, about time someone tells the Gaffa he needs to to shore up the backline, especially now that the human air raid siren Liam Reddy aint there yelling at the kids, although, even at 3 - 1 down with 5 mins left I thought we might get a draw get a draw with our attack, on the other hand it could easily have been 5- 1 also but I am loving watching the football being played this year after that coma inducing shite Moss's played
I like Ashcroft and McGing, they have an upside, but for right this moment, playing two 20 year old CB's is always fraught with danger, 1 is fine with an experienced head (see Patty + Sains) as it stands they're possibly the weakest CB pairing in the HAL, to be fair there was some schoolboy level defending in general killing us. McGing and Arry tried hard, Neil is a nightmare and Roux must be allergic to Melbourne City shirts...there's just a limit to how many balls a relatively inexperienced backline can keep deflecting... Eventually some of them have to go in.
We need Posco back ASAP, Storm or Arry need study session (a week or two on the splinters) and Rose The Elder for for Mickey Neill needs to be done before the Perth Game the other week
One big positive though, was that the combo play and telepathy between Austin, Caceres, Fitzy and Fab the Flyer, its really starting to show some development......
They relied pretty bloody heavily on "Look at"Mooy... we really should have been able to shut them down fairly easily... Shut down Mooy and at least to of their goals don't happen....if Mooy doesn't make it overseas this year, he aint ever going.
"They all just watch the ball like lemmings, completely oblivious to picking up unmarked players."
Ho can you stop a goal if ...
1. You are standing on the wrong side of your player?
2. You are 10yds away from your player......you can't cut out the ball because the pass is always on?
We also need some defensive structure in midfield.......Bring in a defensive coach now to teach them the basics.... I'm a big fan of TW but his subs were poor this weekend.
Our crossing from the flanks is poor, but Storm didn't support Fab very well this weekend (not sure where he was, coz he sure wasn't defending)...The only mid doing his job in both defence AND attack is Monty......
Please don't compare us now to under Moss. That was a very dark period. Now is much better but we need to wise up a lot.....Don't be scared of 442 due to euro snobs. It works....France smashed Brazil in a World Cup final playing 442.....
In EPL City just stopped playing it but were top of the league in that formation. ....The key is Leicester, Palace, West Brom and Watford play 442 and all are placed well above where they should be in the EPL.....It's hard to break down and allows you to transition well from attack to defence.....When you play a clearly better side then you switch to Moss style 4141 and play for the draw or hopeful 1-0 win on the counter.
Quote of the week - FCC MARINER
Not withstanding the various members of the Reddy family frantically posting on FB, I thought Izzo did well. No worse than Reddy. (maybe they aren't all family but some of the hysterical shit is unbelievable)
so...(What used to be the ) Derby next week and as it stands, there's way too much space for Arnie to exploit, the Smurfs will be much better marshalled than any side we've faced thus far and it could be cricket score, Smeltz, Brosque and co could be devastating in the kind of space were been showing. if we cop a flogging, TW's "entertainment model" will be put under a lot of media and fan pressure
Having said that, if were gonna gel...this will be the week to do it
