Hiya, WELL...we done it, we killed the elephant in the room and went and won a toilet seat by beating the Westie Wobblers ( or Drive Bys if you want) at the SFS and wasnt the Coast stoked...DAMN RIGHT WE ARE !
NOW..as much as we hate , we always gonna end up with some blokes leaving...its only right that the fella's grab the chance to live their dream to play footy at the highest level they can obtain...or in ZWAANJE's case..Retire...
yes, Pat has retired BUT he will remain with the Mariners post-retirement as NYL coach and Head of Youth & Community Football for the next three years.
The former FC Utrecht and Oita Trinita defender will also act as the Mariners’ liaison with Central Coast Football regarding the Academy pathway.
In addition, part of Pat’s job description will be to oversee the club’s relations with local clubs, and use his vast experience in the game to be Arnies Head Scout and lookout for new players for the club’s youth pathway.
Zwaanswijk said that after nearly two decades of playing in his native Netherlands, as well as in Japan and Australia, the time had come for him to start a new section of his football journey.
“At a certain point there’s a transition in life,” Zwaanswijk said. “This is a great opportunity for me, so that made it a little bit easier for me to finish my career.
“For me, it’s important to give back to football and to give back to, at this particular time, the Central Coast Mariners....“It’s time to step out of the way to give Zach Anderson a good chance with (Trent) Sainsbury. He’s (Anderson) shown he is a full first team player, and with me stepping out of the way it gives him the chance to get all the credit he deserves.”
To be fair I wasnt overly suprised when Matty Ryan signed a three year deal with Belgian side, Club Brugge...I am however very happy that nhe didnt go to the EPL ...not saying he doesnt belong there, just not yet....The move to Europe comes less than three years after making his senior side debut at the age of just 18 when he replaced the injured Jess Vanstratten in the first team.,...and it was all uphill from there...One can only hope he ends up being the head stopper for the Socceroos one day
BERNIE Ibini trialled (or whatever they called it) in Europe and we all thought for sure that he was Euro bound BUT then he made the switch to Chinese Super League newcomers Shanghai SIPG and admitted the three year deal wasn't the European move everyone was expecting....But Ibini, 20, today insisted he already felt a home at his new 65,000-capacity Shanghai Stadium home after arriving for his medical on Sunday.
Bernie said “Shanghai SIPG have made me feel very welcome,” “I feel this is a great opportunity and a new chapter for myself.... "While it is not the move to Europe everyone was expecting, I think Australians have seen through the Asian Champions League that the Chinese Super League is of a strong standard"
CENTRAL Coast Mariners have released Pedj Bojic from the final year of his contract with the talented right back moving to Sydney FC for next season.....Bojic still had one more year left to run on his Mariners deal but told the club last month that he wanted to exit the club for new opportunities.
Apparently, he stated the commute was too hard or some such bollocks...considering about 80% of the Coast fan base do it daily ON CITYRAIL...he got some kinda hide whinging
Macca nicked off overseas to help Bernie get over his homesickness and to keep his golden boot polished for the upcoming aggressions...McBreen joined Chinese Super League side Shanghai East Asia on loan until 31 October, joining his former teammate Bernie Ibini-Isei who completed his transfer four days earlier.
AND finally...Olly Boz, one of my all time favourite Coasties has found a new home in Switzerland and hasnt he found his kicking boots ..bloody hell, his banging 'em in A LOT...wonder what the Swiss showed him that Mossy and Arnie didnt
AND THE INBOUNDS ARE....
The Mariners have been boosted by the news that Matt Simon, who left the club to play in Korea 16 months ago, has signed a one-year deal.....Simon was released from K-League side Chunnam Dragons earlier this year after a series of injuries and had been courted by several A-League clubs courting his services......The Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers were the front runners, with the Gosford-based club winning the race for the 27-year-old's signature....."I am really excited to come back to the Club," Simon said. "I had a tough time in Korea with injury. But it’s a great time to come back and I am happy to be joining the Champions."
Marcel Seip now plays for the champs He is a defender, having previously played for a few other clubs, Veendam, Heerenveen, Plymouth Argyle, Blackpool, Sheffield United, Charlton Athletic, Bradford City and VVV Venlo ...Seip became the highest scoring defender in the Eredivisie and quickly established himself as a fans favourite due to his no nonsense approach to defending. On June 8th 2013 Seip signed for the Mariners on a three year deal.
New Zealand Under-20s right-back Storm Roux has joined the Mariners as well on a two-year deal....On 8th June 2013 Roux signed a two year deal with reigning Hyundai A-League Champions Central Coast Mariners....
AND Robbies young fella, Tommy Slater has ignored interest from abroad to sign a three-year deal with A-League champions Central Coast. the son of a former Socceroo he has penned his first professional contract at 16 after playing for Sydney FC's youth league side last season.
According to Mariners group general manager Peter Turnbull, 16-year-old Tom had attracted interest from 'a leading French club'.... Slater, a left winger, said he opted to play under Graham Arnold after seeing the former Socceroos coach give youngsters a chance.
First thing that popped into my mind was WHAT!..I guess Ange don't like him or something..anyway El Giraffe was released by Melbourne Victory on July 5 2013, becoming a free agent.....Shortly thereafter the champs confirmed they had signed former Melbourne Victory marquee star Marcos Flores on a one year deal under their salary cap....The 2011 Johnny Warren Medal winner was released by Victory where he played as the Club’s marquee throughout the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season......Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold said: “We are excited to have signed such a talented player as Marcos Flores, It is well known that Marcos was Victory’s marquee player last year, so for us to not only sign him but fit him inside the salary cap is a fantastic coup for the club...“We are sure Marcos will be a great addition to the team."
And finally, its now common knowledge we've signed a rebel without a clue...I guess this is truly a case of IN ARNIE WE TRUST....In July 2012, according to Iranian news media reports, Liam joined the Iranian Premier League club, Esteghlal with a two-year contract but he was left the club on January 2013 without playing any matches for Esteghlal.....After failing to make a single appearances for Esteghlal, Reddy returned to Australia, where he promptly signed for Sydney United in the NSW Premier League....I guess because Matty went to Belgium, Arnie and J.C decided we needed a experienced keeper to give Paz some support so on 23 August 2013, Reddy signed a one year deal with the Mariners.
SO ..there you go ...the first blog for the year ...heaps to come...Catch Ya
