Some of you will know that a few years ago I broke my neck boogie boarding and on more than occasionally since then I get cracker migraine's AND 5 minutes before halftime I got a frigging ripper...Mariner Mick reckons it is stress created by the godawful footy being dished up and the owner threatening the coast with team relocation
..ANYWAY...Deb and me pulled the pin about 10 minutes into the second half...lucky I taped the SBS playing of the game and watched it yesterday...speaking of SBS..keep ya bloody opinions to yourself about the nYellow Army brass band while your dealing up that drizzling crap called Thursday FC...
SO...THE POSITIVES
* the last ten minutes with McBreen, Sterj and Monty on looked like we had teeth and were finally a chance to score, which we did but the liney was a slow poke nitwit* we didn't concede a goal or lose
* Reddy played well AGAIN and saved our bacon..cant understand the persistent chanting from Bay 18 about him
* Roux showed his talent and is going to prove a standout
THE NEGATIVES
we couldn't string a pass together if our life depended on it
bugger all cohesion or understanding
and after a very short while the boys looked very flat and out of juice.
suffice to say we are currently a shadow of the team we have been in the three previous years .. with only four players in the starting 11 that who started in the GF maybe thats to be expected
and once again a game of footy was ruined by refs and lineys that dont seem up to the job...for example....in the 13th minute Victorys Mitch Nicholls scored and then later on Macca scored ...the linesman were late in both their calls, causing both sets of fans to get hyped over nothing then waste five minutes and the offside margin was a tally ho paper wide both times....so, once again....FRIGGING OFFICIALS RUINED A GAME AGAIN
Mossy made a valid point in his post-match interview. He said he needs to rethink his decision making skills. For 3 years he has been in the position of being able to make suggestions to Arnie, but never having to make the final decision....he has to change that mindset
I brought a friend a ticket and was shocked to be charged $26.....I was thinking about asking for a refund after that shite.....I thought we were fairly good for the first 15mins but once they got into the game they dominated us and had an easy night. Thankfully they butchered plenty of chances and Reddy was good again.
It's amazing to see a team play 90 minutes and create so few chances. I agree with GrA that once Monty and macca and sterj came on we looked decent again......I was also shocked that we were so slow to close down Victory players in dangerous positions....talk about playing with fire.
Reddy 7.5. Good game. Distribution was good and made a crucial save.
Rose 6. Not very composed tonight.
Storm 7.5 Looked quality again but could still tighten up defensively a tad.
Tesco 7.5. Some Norman Hunter style tackles tonight that I really enjoyed.
Griffiths 7. Good again and one outstanding block.
WeeMac 7.5. Frustrating game. Looked lively and one of our only players with required skill level but also gave the ball away a few times
Hutcho 7. Better work rate than last week and was solid if uninspiring.
Caceras 7. Looked good early but faded.
Duke 6.5. Mixed bag.
Flores 6.5. Not at his best but showed glimpses of his great talent.
Simon 6.5. Touch and sharpness not 100%.
All subs were better than the player they replaced.....and the Yellow Army were outstanding as was the left hand stand (western?).
AND ON SOME MID - WEEK OCCURENCE'S.....
THE NSO GAME DEBACLE & P.T DEPARTS
Our owner Mike Charlesworth needs to be careful not to further alienate the people of the Central Coast and the club hastily issued a statement in response refuting the claims they are seeking a permanent relocate.....The general consensus seems to be that even if Charlesworth is only flirting with the idea of throwing more games the way of North Sydney Oval, he sent out the wrong type of message to those of us that have been at Fortress Mariners since the clubs inception nearly a decade ago.
Threats in the press saying we'll move the club if you don't start turning up are only going to piss those off who go to every game and invest a lot of their own time and money into the club, whereas those who don't go to games anyway will just say "meh... I don't go to games anyway",
He has managed to be like many senior manager/ owners that Ive worked under, that make stupid decisions without asking the staff (us fans in this case) on the ground
Charlesworth needs to be very careful now ... he has pushed shitload of buttons that didnt need pushing and a fair amount of the Supporters club, The Yellow Army and Mariners fans, in general, are royally annoyed .......I liked the way Gallop [according to the an article] said NSO was not up to stadium standard other than the odd community round, and his right, its got a friggin concrete like cricket pitch in the middle, I remember going there in the 70s to watch Canterbury play the bears and players that got driven into the pitch had their seasons finished, PLUS the friggin stand is a 150 years old and has bugger all facilities... sorta blows the move out of the water.....None the less...I reckon more than a few people have decided to boycott the Wellington game at North Sydney and Charlesworth has no one to blame but himself
AND Mariners chairman and long time franchise ATM, Peter Turnbull blew full time on his corporate career at Fortress Mariners ...sad to see him go, BUT..clearly he has done more than his fair share and deserves a break...THANKS FOR EVERYTHING MR.T
Just in Andrew Clark is off to work with Arnie in Japan....what the f**k is going on at Tuggerah, at whom do I point fingers and bellow "YOU DID THIS TO MY CLUB YOU ARSEHAT"....Suggestions
