It took me a good
long while…BUT…I think I have finally become comfortable with the business
model of the Mariners …that model is one of creation and moving on to bigger
and better things for the boys…and, to be fair, I do wish all our guys much
success …BUT …losing ‘em mid –season still fkn stings…I said I am comfortable
with ‘em leaving…I said nothing about liking the transfer window being flung
open mid season
SO, anyway…this year thus far…we sent Wee
Mickey off to play in the J-League under Arnie..mind you the club coulda waited a month, they only
just started their pre-season in Japan, so I dunno what the rush was ….then Bernie
Ibini and Macca came back from China and Marcos FLORES done his knee bone….back
to Bernie and Macca for a bit, Bernie was a bit homesick and wanted to come
home to be with family…Macca on the other hand, his loan deal ran out and he
came back, looking totally knackered, if I’m honest.
Little did we know that
his Chinese club wanted Dan back post haste and the club were working on getting him there BUT ONLY if some
coin was forthcoming …didn’t know Tesco’s departure was on the books…I have a
theory about players being distracted during transfer negotiations..I mean, transfers don’t take 10 minutes, you have to get visa’s and possibly passports
sorted and get medicals done…none of this is instantaneous, so with the benefit
of hindsight you can see that Mickey, Tesco and Dan had other things on their
collective minds, the past few weeks of their Coastie careers…ANYWAY…to the bloody transfer window
IN the space of one
day the Mariners lost two more members of their GF winning squad, with Tesco and
Macca both leaving the club…..... Sainsbury had signed a two-and-a-half season
deal with PEC Zwolle effective immediately. And Macca, after much tooing and
froing from the respective clubs is heading back to Shanghai SIPG to, more than
likely, finish his career off…… the transfer to Shanghai SIPG was confirmed on
Friday evening, after the club initially blocked the deal, holding out for a
reported $250,000 transfer fee for the 37-year-old….dunno what they got for
him…so I aint gonna make a guess
BUT the club eased some of that pain by signing
defender Eddy Bosnar ….apparently the Mariners committed some kind of football
felony , cause those friggin nitwits in the Sydney newspaper world said we
STOLE Eddie from under the noses of Sydney FC…I’m fairly certain the Smurfs
hadn’t signed him SO get stuffed Smellograph and, or Shitty Morning Herald
Eddie has signed with
Mariners until the end of May .....Bosnar, 33, ought to be a familiar face for
supporters of the Mariners, with the experienced defender having played against
Central Coast twice in last year’s AFC Champions League while with K-League
Classic giants Suwon Bluewings.
After graduating from
the Australian Institute of Sport Football Program, Bosnar began his
professional career in 1997 with Newcastle Breakers. After staying in Australia
for a few seasons with Northern Spirit and Sydney United, Bosnar moved to
Croatia in 2000 to play with Dinamo Zagreb. After three years in Austria with
Sturm Graz, Bosnar moved to England to play with Everton, but he failed to make
an appearance in the Premier League for Everton, and he was released after one
season due to injury.
Bosnar then returned
to old club Dinamo Zagreb, before briefly playing with Rijeka. Bosnar moved to
the Netherlands in 2006 to spend two seasons with Heracles Almelo, before
moving to Japan in 2008 with JEF United Chiba. He moved to Shimizu S-Pulse in
2010. Bosnar left Japan at the end of that season and joined Suwon Samsung
Bluewings in the K-League. In May 2012,
he scored a free-kick at an incredible 123 kilometres per hour against Ulsan
Hyundai. On 18 July 2013, Bosnar transferred to Chinese Super League side
Guangzhou R&F
THEN…to bolster the
playing stock for the forthcomiong ACL the Mariners ran out and signed KIM SEUNG YEUNG.....The talented 28-year-old is due to arrive in Australia later this week,
Kim boasts considerable experience in Korea Republic’s top flight, the K-League
Classic, as well as Japan’s highly regarded J.League where he plied his trade
with glamour club Gamba Osaka in 2011.
And, the former FC Seoul and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors man was integral to Ulsan Hyundai’s continental triumph just two years ago, netting the third goal in the Tigers’ 3-0 win over Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli in the tournament’s Final.....Central Coast Mariners boss Phil Moss believes Kim will add spark and experience to his squad, and says he is excited to work with the former South Korean youth international.
“Kim Seung-yong ticks all the boxes for us as a Club,” Bruce Stalder said. “He is player of immense quality and reputation in Asia, he has a desire to play in Australia, and he is extremely familiar with the AFC Champions League – a competition we will be entering for the fourth time in 2014.”
And to finish off the
Friday Super Sale..we snatched up Isaka Cernak from the Glory…Dunno much about
him other than he at was at the Fury which didn't help after they
finished up and has been moved around too much for whatever reason. He has been
at a couple of clubs that are more interested in instant success than
developing players. I'm sure we can fulfil his potential he at the Mariners.
Oh...you may have noticed that a bloke called Bruce had something to say about our new Korean player...WELL...here he is
