Firstly let me respond to a question laid upon me "why dont you write blogs about losses?"
answer...Moss & Walmsley...its all I seemed to be writing about with those two, so i dont anymore, just resounding wins and very exciting games that are so close it dont matter.
SO to NYE at The Fortress...WOW, just WOW
How good was that , the joint was pumping , #ThatBoyTrent continued on his scoring way, we had Super Timmy in town and he got gazumped (?) by our ballboy, a new coastal legend was born when that happened , that is gonna be one of those "were you there when " things I reckon
Now to be fair and honest, I thought City might roll us similar to what Victory did BUT nup..the boys stood up and took it to Westpac United with a fevour not seen in a couple of weeks at least.
I thought the lads done a great job of shutting them down , old mate Bruce from City was almost totally closed out , and we barely saw Fitzy and that other ex mariner , you know, wotsisname, Carchaser or something, hardly at all the whole game .
And then there was us ...to quote someone in Bay 16," WE GOT MONTGOMERY, HIS FKN QUALITY" and on this night he truly was quality , the great man was everywhere , his passes stuck, he didnt get carded and he had a true captains knock, mind you he coulda scored a couple ;)....
matter of fact the whole mid field were on fire I reckon, Adz had a cracking game AND he knows how to successfully apply a full nelson as well....
the defence even stood tough , sure there were a couple of holes occasionally BUT their kids, well except for Faty, they will get better (fingers crossed) ...and then there was the forwards I think they all had a shot at the City goal didnt they?...
well maybe not Kwabbi, and Blake's were mostly half assed but we had Royo the Boyo and ThatBoyTrent and they were on fire , I still cant get over how fast Budgie is ...YEH I SAID HIS FAST, ZELIC, YOU MORON, your sister got the beauty and the BRAINS apparently,Twat....anyway.
Now im fairly sure that the regulars and the blow ins from the races wanted to see a Cahill header and the great man didnt disappoint ....pity really, I could of done without one.
Now for a ref gripe...and this is levelled at FFA and HAL Execs mostly ...How the hell do we have so many refs with minimal experience , that stooge on NYE was on his 3rd game , Budgie got more field time than him, and whichever way you look at it his inconsistency played a part , its like he read the rule book at half time , stuff he let slide in the first half he carded in the second stanza...and i still think that pelanty WASNT...but you cant have a close game without some over efficious nitwit ruin it can you...import some of them pommy refs from the epl or the championship, Im sure a winter with regular sunburn would have them lining up to come over.
and how tense was Paulo on the sideline, fark moi , I thought he was gonna pop a cork there at one point....to be fair I wasnt convinced at the start of his appointment, but you can finally see the direction his heading in and the kids are getting it , so maybe the second half of the season will be a marked improvement ....soon find out , Poppa Smurf and his horde of blue numb nuts are inbound ..
