An outstanding hit out, City decimated the Scummers on the 30th, glad they didnt show up, the media cant blame travel, they only travelled 45 mins ...even Isuk Atsokkah had a cracker...that was a totally different team that showed up to play the Wanderers on Wednesday....all of 'em would have got a very meager points out of 10 after that disgraceful 90 minutes....
BUT SUNDAY IS FOR FOOTBALL...WERE WE HAPPY, YOU BET YOUR LIFE WE WAS
Man of the Match was a very close toss up between Dukey , Triffers and Posco....speaking of Triffers, see how good he goes when he don't have to play catchup, his much better when his there from the off....Dukey's performance today was stellar. His passing leaves a lot to be desired at times, but he has developed these really deft touches that seem to be coming off more often than not lately.
For mine, Tricky gets my MoM… but only by a hair from Reddy, Hutch… and Cernak, of all people. Honestly, where has Cernak been hiding that kind of performance??? He was fantastic! Tricky's ability to, not only control the ball in traffic, but also bewilder the defenders was superb, and very much what a #10 should do....More of that please.
Kisnorbo was using all of his vast experience to try and intimidate and dominate Major, but Major gave as good as he got. Alot of this was off the ball and it became a very entertaining battle to watch....young Major had a couple of nice touches, one of which Sim fkn ruined...I swear Sim has got a blackmail packet on Mossy, no other reason he should be playing......Mrs Recky said that the youth coach must of trained the big boys since that boring crap on Wednesday....a good as theory as any
City really didn`t impress at all as we smothered there attack or we just managed to get a foot in there or a block their play (Cernak especially) and Reddy was back and made some cracking save's
NEWS FLASH: FFA to launch a major investigation after a referee actually sends a player off for Denying an Obvious Goal scoring Opportunity, for once....I was stunned when the red came out, I really didn't think he would do it, but he did...and good on him for being forthright in his decisions....Dooks was lucky his year wasnt over.
A few Maranoids (probably wearing rose colored glasses) reckon we have turned the corner and will now decimate all and assundry, I would like that, BUT, lets be realistic, Mossy (or Sully) will make some ridiculous squad selections and they WILL frig around with what appeared to be a game winning squad...
SO, given that probable scenario, we should be doing our damnedest to upset the opponents' run into the finals. Yes, the time for blooding the youngsters is the pre-season, with the occasional run off the splinter for experience....but I cant see us making the six, so lets make it hard for every other bugger
8/10 Reddy- great reflex saves superb effort
9/10 Posc- had a blinder he`s definitely getting better with each game
7/10 Ando & Bosnar - played well but faded into the background with stronger performers around them
8/10 Rose- Steady as a rock, gave Duff nothing but grief all game
7.8/10 Hutcho- one of his better performances with a couple of great passes forward ( yes forward)
8.5/10 Caceres- Possibly his best game for us. His ability to ride tackles or to get through 2-3 defenders was beautiful to watch.
9/10 Cernak- I for one was AMAZED, definitely his best game. He worked his butt off & deserved a full 90mins....one or two more ike that and i may change hs nickname I gave him...MAYBE
8/10 Vernes- I`ve sat on the fence, trying to give him the opportunity to impress with his limited appearances but today he was at his annoying best, setting up Dooks second
9.5/10 Duke- Finally got the monkey off his back with two good goals. I wonder how much influence Matty has had on him.
9.9/10 Tricky- Very effective today. Set up the first goal & had a good all round game.
AND FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE BACK OF BEYOND...HEEEERRREESSS..
Just my luck, when we win one, I'm watching the game from a dodgy little pub in Ao Nang on a live feed that was very hazy.
I thought we were much better than usual and went into the game with more intent.
its amazing what happens when you go out and actually have a go....Triffiro starting helped
Duke was superb and both goals were quality.
I thought Vernes was alright but sometimes I couldn't make out who was who....
I love our stadium, though on days like Sunday it's torture. Shade for 1/3 of the spectators and sunburn for the rest....
there was the heat, having to going back to work tomorrow etc. , so the crowd was well down on expected numbers. We move on to the next game at home after the Asian Cup.
During the week Mossy said he has contacts in England and Holland. We've signed a young bloke from Blacktown....
Reddy today had one of the best keeper performances in our shirt I've seen. Absolute quality.
Bottom Line is were Still unbeaten in 2015.
SO...twenty days off while we host the Asian Cup Tournament...hopefully, any purchases Mossy makes will be fully acclimatised to the team and the coast by the time we butt heads with Arnie and the Smurfs at The Fortress on the 24th
